Welcome to the Home Page of the Irish Piobaireachd Society.
The Irish Piobaireachd society was founded in 1997 by Stephen Power(Waterford) & Con Houlihan.(Cullen Co.Cork)It was firstly known as the North Cork Piobaireachd Society secondly as the South of Ireland Piobaireachd Society and due to its growing success in 2004 it was finally renamed to the Irish Piobaireachd Society.
The foremost aim of the IPS is the continued nuturing of the ancient classical music of the Highland Bagpipe through expert tutition (Master Classes) and Solo competitions
The First annual Piobaireachd Competition was held in 1998 in the Duhallow Park Hotel Co. Cork. Our Annual Solo Contest attracts numerious members from Ireland with a keen interest also begining to come from both N.Ireland & Scotland
